Good venue and great backgammon. Next time, I'l be sure to bring my appetite along, as the menu looked very tempting!
I was surprised to see just how much I still have to learn!

We had a great first meet up. Just the three of us today but we played some quality BG. Hopefully we'll begin RI grow now. James Joyce Irish Pub on Stephen Ave was a perfect venue. Thanks to Michael and Jacques for coming along.

No worries Rob. Hopefully we'll see you next meet up. Last Sunday of each month. I'll post soon.
Hey guys. I'm really looking forward to tomorrows meet up. Lets get the BG Club up and running and play some killer games.

Went looking to replace my small magnetic bg board today. Nada. Anybody still sell these that has stock in Cowtown?

I recommend taking a trip (or calling) to North Hill Shopping Mall. There is a store there called "The Games People Play". The last time I was there they were selling Backgammon boards. Not sure about magnetic travel ones but I seem to recall they had the smaller wooden ones.
Thanks Michael. Yes, I've called them and all the other game stores around town. All are waiting to restock from the Christmas glut.
Sorry Guys, I have a really bad flu and am bed ridden. I will be at the next one for sure.Have fun!
Hopefully you'll recover quickly! good luck.
I have no real preference for play at the meetup. I am partial to standard rules (Match play - Crawford, no Jacoby, no Auto-doubles). I think keeping the money play (even if fake) option off the table might be better for our first social get together. Chouette would be an interesting idea especially if we got a limited number of people like 3 but we all wanted to play). I was going to bring my tournament board and a smaller (very simple) wooden board if we needed it and a few pairs of precision dice.

I have not played in so long but i remember the acey/doucey thing. I will play however you guys want.
I've got a cheap board I can bring along (I'm assuming we'll have more than we'll need) and was wondering how things will work.
Playing chouette, possibly? A bit of round robin? Matches? 'Money' games (Without the money.)... Also, I've seen many different people play different rules. (Often a weird acey-deucy hybrid :) ) Is it safe to assume everyone will be using the rules as can be found at bkgm dot com?
Looking forward to a game or two. Been awhile. .

Hi everyone. Thank you for being interested in joining the backgammon club, I feel very enthused right now. I hope to see you all at the first meet up. If any one has any good future meet up venues please give me your suggestions.

A number of months ago I saw some people playing Backgammon in Phil and Sebastian's Coffee House in Marda loop. I was there for business so couldn't break away to ask them about their interest in the game. Might be a good place to advertise this meetup.

Hi Michael. Yes I could definitely look into that venue for the follow up meet. I think a coffee house would be better than a pub but I don't really know any coffee houses. I hope to see you at the first meet up. Thanx for the comment.
