Hello ladies! I'm giving this a try as it seems like gals are shy about stepping up as hike leaders and keep asking me to put this one on the calendar regularly; however, I live in Oregon and only get down to the Bay Area every month or so. I have scheduled this hike to repeat every other Wednesday. This is NO HOST hike. That means it's being posted so that you all have a place to meet and hike together. Please be intentional with your RSVPs and it's important to communicate with each other beforehand. You can do this either by posting comments to the event page or clicking on a member's name and sending them a direct email. Have fun!!!
The Sweeney Ridge hike is great one to do after work! It's around 5 miles round-trip, approx 1000ft gain. It's a paved path all the way and is nice to just get out and stretch your legs. It usually takes between 1.5-2.0 hours.
Bring 10 essentials including a head lamp and extra layers - it can be cold and windy on the ridge.
I recommend meeting 6:30pm and start walking promptly at 6:40pm, but you can decide this as a group.
Location: Note that I recommend NOT meeting at the official Sweeney Ridge trailhead as it often has break ins. By parking just one block away in the quiet neighborhood, we have never had any problems in all the years I've been doing this hike with friends. Meet at the corner of Sneath Lane and Monterey Drive just 1 block away from the trailhead parking.
