Would any ladies be interested in a "Self Defense" class? I know a very nice young couple who holds courses. I can even assist with on-horseback techniques to stay safe. If there's enough interest, I will get a price and a date that works for everyone.

I can go by Bay shore Fire tomorrow if we need an October speaker. Let me know ASAP.

I am following up on some other speakers first.

What about a speaker from The Nature Center to inform us of what we may encounter out on the Florida trails? They usually bring some good stuff to show off.

A lot of folks work so Saturday would probably work for folks.

Great ideas, everyone! What about non-riding parties and BBQ's? Great time to hold crazy games. What about a Halloween costume event or Easter Egg Hunt?

    September 5, 2014

    • Ericka D.

We have a Holiday party every year and we have held a Halloween costume competition and ride in that past at Popash. We had a potluck/BBQ after a short ride. If you find enough interest we can certainly do that again but my help may be limited due to other events planned that month. I have done a Mardi Gras full moon ride event that I would like to repeat in February. I have also done an Easter Egg hunt so I have all the supplies for that. Maybe we can incorporate that into a poker ride for Caloosahatchee Park.

Ericka, Do you think it would be possible for me to start on a trail book for the club? I have the time. I can get sponsors to offset the printing costs. Include Federal, State and private facilities. Maybe a section for camping recipes? Itds

Sure, Renee. Glad you are willing to take on that project!

It was a great meeting. I think everyone is excited for the cooler weather to get here and looking forward to riding. A big welcome to the new members. It was good to meet you and we hope to see you on upcoming rides and meetings. There were 14 trail riders at the meeting. Everyone had wonderful ideas. Hold on to your horses, looks like its going to be a fabulous season for riding and club activities.

Hi Darlene, Sounds like you have had and enjoyable summer. There is another entrance to Webb, it is off of I 75 about 30 minutes North of Palm Beach Blvd. Easy to get to and many trails. Its pretty wet right now but it should be fine when you get here. I am looking forward to riding with you this year.

I've had some great riding this summer. Friday is getting a little better, but we are not cantering yet. Still working on some trust/confidence issues with him but progress has been make & I haven't been bucked off since May :) We've even gone camping this summer and used high-lines to tie too. I'm hooked for sure. My riding goals for this winter are:
    repeating rides at---
*Caloosa North - plan to get there a few times.
*Crew - didn't ride there at all last year.
    *Camping @ Webb.
    *Pepper Ranch.
    *Pop Ash
    *Prairie Pines
*Babcock NEW Places (for me) to explore---
*Picaynue - haven't been there before
*Alva Scrub Preserve - if the trails open this year
*Is there another access to the Webb property? I've heard of people riding Webb and there is a lake too. Would like to check it out.
*And more camping :) I will be bringing "Money" with me for sure.
Friday will be staying home. I might be bringing Cowboy this year, but am not sure yet.

Like to know if I could bring some business cards and brochures to give out to members? It's Equine Vacation Services. Horse sitting service at clients homes while they are away.

    • Ericka D.

Sure, but if you want to say a few words about your business you can do that during "public comments" at the end of the meeting

Hello Caloosa Saddle Club Members. September 4th which is next Thursday will be our first meeting after what has been a long hot summer. We will be discussing where we would like to ride and planning events for this coming year. It would be great to see all 82 members at the meeting but I know that everyone has busy lives with work, children and everyday life. What makes a club great is member participation. If there is a wonderful place you have ridden and would like to share the info with the other members, or if there is a place you would like to ride please let us know. If you cannot make it to the meeting just post a note on this site and we will get back with you. Lets make this riding season great.

Hey Darlene , how are you doing?

    May 30, 2014

    • Darlene M.

Hi Cheryl. I'm doing well. Riding as much as I can, but not as much as I was in FL. Still having problems with Friday. Just made an appointment with a chiropractor to come see him, vet couldn't find anything wrong with him. So I'm just going to work on ground work with him for a couple weeks until Dr Stacy comes over.
That will give me time to start working with his little sister too. Princess Pearl :)

Last winter (2013/2014) I brought 2 horses down with me. I let other people ride my mare. Not sure if I'm bringing 2 this coming winter (2014/2015) but if I bring 2 again I'll have one to share.

Hi Alice, You do not have to own a horse to join the Caloosa Saddle Club. You should plan to come to our September meeting and meet some of our members and see if you would be interested in the activities we do.
