I moved to Cambridge a few years ago and quickly felt that this is the city for me. I enjoy the variety of people you can meet here from all walks of life, and the things it has to offer, especially the restaurants, music venues and public talks.
I've always been fascinated with ideas, and at some point, I realised that a lot of the things I was thinking and talking about were actually things that philosophers have already been discussing for hundreds or even thousands of years. So I started reading around, got more and more interested, and now I'm hooked!
I'm interested in practical ethics, e.g. health care, human rights or the legal system. My reading has mainly covered Western philosophy, but I feel that I have a definite gap in my knowledge when it comes to other philosophical systems, e.g. Chinese or Indian. So, I would be very interested in talks on these schools of thought.
That's a tough question, almost unfair, there are so many good places in Cambridge! I really like the Pickerel on Magdalene Street, because of its quaintness and strange convoluted topology.
