April Internet of Things talks at Makespace

Gordon Williams is the creator of Espruino - the world's first open source Javascript microcontroller. The Espruino was funded through a massively successful Kickstarter project with 1,692 backers giving over £100k to get it made. Unlike many a failed hardware Kickstarter, Gordon heroically shipped over four thousand boards earlier this year and will hopefully let us in on the secret of his success.

Claire Rowland is an independent UX strategist, design manager and researcher with a particular interest in experience design for the internet of things/connected devices/ubiquitous computing (whatever you want to call it!).  Previously, she was the service design manager for, a connected home platform provider, and head of research at design agency Fjord.  She is writing a book for O’Reilly on UX design for the internet of things, due out at the end of 2014.

The agenda will be:

Arrive 6:45 for a 7pm start (buzz for entry after 7pm)

> Introduction by Mark Cheverton (@ennui2342)

> Gordon Williams (@espurino)

> Claire Rowland (@clurr)

> Networking & retire to The Mill

9pm Close

Hashtag: #iotcam. Thanks to Makespace for hosting the meetup:

Makespace is a community run space, that houses manufacturing and prototyping kit and provides the surroundings to meet, work, build, socialise and do amazing things. I'll be there on Thursday, and would like to meet people with javascript experience in particular to join Aquamatix. We are bringing the IoT to the water industry.
