Visualization Meditation (Tibetan Style)

We've never done this kind of meditation before, so this will be a learning experience. It's recommended by the Dalai Lama in his new book, Beyond Religion, which, for a religious leader, presents a laudably secular vision.

In this meditation, one begins by gazing at visual object. Then, one attempts to hold a mental image of the object in the mind's eye. It's a form of concentration meditation.

If you can, please bring a small object to gaze upon. I'll bring some seashells.

Great group, not my favorite style of meditation. I appreciate the group's willingness to try out different forms of meditation and talk about them.

This was not an easy meditation, but it was quite an interesting experience, and it engendered a discussion afterward about memories, being able to recall spaces we'd live in in our childhood, etc. Seven people went out afterward for further dicussion at Au Bon Pain.
