Dear Rick:

I hope you had a peaceful holiday.  Have you decided which museum you will visit this weekend?

Subject: [Cambridge-Secular-Buddhists] Mindful Museum Visit

Since we're not meeting for meditation on Christmas and New Year's Day, we talked about doing a field trip somewhere, like a museum. I'd like to propose going to a museum this Saturday, or Sunday. The Harvard Art Museum is free Saturday mornings, and the Harvard Natural History Museum is free Sunday morning (to Massachusetts residents), so those are my suggestions. The art museum has a collection of Buddhist art, so that could be particularly interesting.
I'd like to know if anyone is interested, but please don't reply to the entire list. I don't want to overload people with email if they're not coming.
Instead, I wrote up a blog post, and you can leave a comment there
or you can email me at [address removed]
The idea of a mindful museum visit would be to NOT try to see everything, but rather spend a lot of time mindfully taking in a few things. Therefore, a small (and lower-priced) museum would be preferable.
Again, my nominations are the Harvard Art Museums
open Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–5pm
Adults: $9. Massachusetts residents with valid ID: Free on Saturday, 10am–noon
Or Harvard Natural History Museum
Open daily: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Adults: $12.00 Free to Massachusetts residents every Sunday morning (year-round) from 9:00 am to noon. Please be prepared to present proof of residency.
