Thanks for being supportive, Janice. I do consider myself a humanist and a Christian. I think it is possible to be a follower of the great Jewish rabbi and oppose the fundamentalism and absolutism which represents so much of Christianity! I believe in the brotherhood and sisterhood of all humanity of goodwill, and if there is salvation of any kind, it will be due to individual action and compassion, rather than through religion. My belief is that religion has distorted (one of my favorite words) the story of Christ, for power and control. Indeed I find that more humanists are more "Christ-like" than most Christians. As Gandi said "I like your Christ-but I do not like your Christians- they are so unlike your Christ!
