Thursday Games

  • Apr 25, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We tried this place and everyone who attended really liked it, so I thought we would try it again. If you weren't able to make it the last time, I hope you will be able to join us. We had several people come in and ask about the group, or ask me about the group as I was walking out. It is a very visable location for us. The food and service are great.

The games we play are much different than the board games you played growing up. Some of them will give your brain a very satisfying workout due to the high level of strategy and low amount of luck. Others are totally dripping with theme (pirates, zombies, monsters, etc) that involve more luck and direct player conflict.

We have a growing collection of games on hand, but if you have a new (or old) boardgame you think fits the bill, by all means bring it along (as long as you'll teach us)!

So... let's have some fun rolling dice, placing tiles, or drawing cards - and enjoy some face-to-face interaction! It really isn't about whether you win or lose (at least not entirely). It is about having a great evening, trying to win some of the time, and always playing better the next time! smile

Just to be clear: we don't play Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Uno, Yahtzee, etc. Please see our  About Us page for more information on the types of games we play.

I can bring 7 Wonders and Revolution. 7 Wonders is a civ-building game that is, comparatively, much easier to learn than games like Through the Ages or Sid Myers Civilization. Revolution plays very similarly (mechanism wise) to Lords of Waterdeep, except players are bidding in secret in an attempt to secure different agents (with different abilities) instead of securing them directly with their player pieces (and there aren't any quests). There are links to DiceTower video reviews of both games below:

I'd be willing to give Revolution a try, although I might want to play it later in the evening. I'm also hoping to play Seasons tonight.

I'm bringing Dominion again if anyone wants to play. (I know, I'm a one-trick pony right now until we move into our new house and I get my games out of storage)

      I'm ready to play again.

Jerry and I are bringing Sentinels of the Multiverse, a cooperative superhero fixed-deck card game. It plays up to 5. We have the Rook City, Infernal Relics and Shattered Timelines expansions that add additional heroes, villains and environments for more variety. Let us know if you are interested in playing.

Regina, if you have too many, I'll step out and let some others play since I played twice on Saturday.

Thanks Roberta...we might need to do that if everyone that expressed an interest in playing is able to attend. We'll bring Sentinels of the Multiverse with us to a few of the meetups if others would like to try it another time too.
