Thursday Games - A Theme Night Days of Wonder Games

  • Sep 12, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Please join us for our next gaming event focusing on games published by Days of Wonder.

You may have played some of their games, without knowing it. Probably their most popular game is Ticket to Ride. Some other of their games include Coliseum, Pirate's Cove and Cleopatra.

For those our newer members, theme nights are a chance to focus on a certain aspect of games. The theme night be a particular game theme, such as pirates/sea travel, or dungeon games. A theme night might also center around a game mechanic, such as card games or dice games. This may be the first one where the theme is a specific publisher/company.

Of course, other games will be available. No one is required to only play games that fit the theme. This is just a fun way to explore games you may not have heard about, and to add some variety to our meetings.

The games we play are much different than the board games you played growing up. Some of them will give your brain a very satisfying workout due to the high level of strategy and low amount of luck. Others are totally dripping with theme (pirates, zombies, monsters, etc) that involve more luck and direct player conflict.

We have a growing collection of games on hand, but if you have a new (or old) boardgame you think fits the bill, by all means bring it along (as long as you'll teach us)!

So... let's have some fun rolling dice, placing tiles, or drawing cards - and enjoy some face-to-face interaction! It really isn't about whether you win or lose (at least not entirely). It is about having a great evening, trying to win some of the time, and always playing better the next time! smile

Just to be clear: we don't play Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Uno, Yahtzee, etc. Please see our  About Us page for more information on the types of games we play.

Hey everyone! I'm new (to the group and the area). I was really excited about coming out, but I had a last minute thing come up. I'll be there next time!

I was planning on bringing Cleopatra and/or Pirate's Cove for the Days of Wonder theme Thursday ... don't believe I've seen those played before. Here are some reviews:

I also have copies of other DoW games if people wanted to try to play them with others, but don't own a copy. Anything in particular someone is looking to play?

Pirate's cove sounds good, I'd like to give it a try.

I am also bringing Colosseum and Queen's Necklace to round out the DoW offerings for the evening ... If David is bringing Ticket to Ride Europe and Randall is bringing Small World.

I know it's not part of the theme, but I'm bringing Dominion because I just got the new Guilds expansion and I want to play it with someone, so if anyone wants to join me...

      I'd love to play.

As it turns out, Ticket to Ride is the only Days of Wonder game we own. So, everyone, bring any DoW game you have.
