Since I was tiring of computer games in my spare time I was looking for some other types of gaming and ran into a few ads in my gaming magazine on some really cool board games that looked interesting. Since you more than likely cannot play a board game by yourself I needed other players who want to do the same thing I went and searched for a local group that might be hosting a place to do this sort of thing. Camel City Gamers came up in my search each time and is really close to where I live.
Computer game player doing fantasy RPGs and Sci-fi games including some strategy and first person shooter games in the same genre's. Also read books in the Fantasy/Sci-Fi Genre when I have time. While I have played more in the fantasy/sci-fi theme, I do like any board game to play with other people with any theme in mind as long as its fun to play and has some interesting complex elements to the game. I was never a fan of Monopoly. It just is a monotonous and drawn out too long game in my opinion. Also I never could get into the game Risk. I do like world domination games on the computer to some degree but Risk itself just didn't hold my attention and did not have enough varied goals and interesting surprises in the game. Don't get the idea that I don't like games that are long and take a long time to finish. I love long and involved games(have put 150+ hours in some computer games) as long as the game is fun and has alot of variety and replayability.
I have yet to play any modern board games. I only have played games with the family of things like card games, UNO, Mexican Train, life ect. So I am interested to playing ANY modern board/tabletop/card games that has not been around forever. Any Themed type games I am sure I would enjoy. I used to do the pen and paper D&D back in the day and always play video games of that nature so alot of board games from fantasyflight games would certainly peak the most interest from me which just sparked my interest recently seeing a ad about them and watching some reviews on youtube about a game called Descent: Journey into the dark. But again I am flexible and love history too in times I was never a part of like Western/colonial era and back to medieval and ancient greek/roman times ect. I don't know how any modern board games are these days but I am sure they are much more fun/interesting then the board games that have been around forever. I am open minded to try any game at least once.
I love the mountains and try to do outdoor stuff like hiking and backpacking whenever I can including white water rafting as well. I have gotten to experience a lot of those activities through my sons Boy Scout Troop. I have never been a exercise guy for the sake of exercise, but my neighbors have convinced me to do a half marathon on December 8th. I have been doing runs and preparing for it since mid September in a 12 week program. Never done anything like this before.
My name is Jeff and I have always liked games, particularly computer games since I was 15.
