Question for Clarke - I tested my 'load speed' at pingdom.com (not good!) but can you remind me how to find out what plugins are slowing down my site load time?! Thanks!

    2 · March 27

    • Clarke Wright

Hi Cathy, The pingdom.com speed test results will show you everything that loads with your site, in the left-hand column. Then the load speed appears to the right of each item listed.

      1 · March 27

    • JUHLi SELBy

I use a plugin called P3 Plugin Performance Profiler - you can install it, use it to check loading speeds, and then uninstall when you're finished: http://wordpress.org/...

    Hey Clarke
I was working on a backup this am and noticed that WP-optimize will delete unapproved comments as part of clean up - might help with your 17,000

Here are a couple of areas -

    Image management
I have a regular problem when I import graphics that are created directly from an application like Visio, say a chart or a simple graphic - the image which looks fine in native application degrades in wordpress. And yes I have tried, gif, png, tiff, jpeg, psd, you name it. I have saved images as exact size and I have compressed larger images. I have saved at 600 x600 pixels - anyway you get it. No problem with most normal photo images, just graphics.

One tends to develop numerous pages, posts and media files - wordpress has gotten better to manage posts and pages - but what is a good plug in (technique) to manage media files - a way to categorize them Newsletter integration - I use aweber - tips on when and how to integrate with email lists

Content Control - When we want to use wordpress more than a time linear blog - we need to manage what content shows where - I use Metro - 1 touch what do others use for magazine style layouts?

    4 · March 4

    • Clarke Wright

A great idea Brian. It would be alot to cover in a Meetup. I wonder if Camosun College Continuing Education would consider offering a course or seminar on effectively using Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools.

      2 · March 18

    • JUHLi SELBy

And Google just announced a free resource on their blog today - Google's Webmaster Academy: http://googlewebmaste... (I'm sure this built on the one I gave you the link for before)

I'm interested in learning more about how to use Pinterest to promote a blog - how much and what sort of text is advisable, whether one can link to both blog post and to original source of image, how much info we are required to give about image rights, etc.
