Gun Control History and Myths

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

2nd Amendment

A Novel Idea: Someone researched the 2nd Amendment.

"Those Citizens who Hammer their Guns into Plows will End Up Plowing Fields for those who Do Not"

Thomas Jefferson

Why haven't Americans heard the word DEMOCIDE?

Gun Control is not about Guns - its about Control.
The Government is going to have guns. You don't hear them saying they are getting rid of their guns do you? The Government wants to Control all the guns so they can completely control the citizens.

"The strongest reason for the People to retain their Right to Keep and Bear Arms
is a last resort to protect themselves against Tyranny against Government."

Thomas Jefferson

For this reason Thomas Jefferson speaks of above,
Congress enacted the Dick Act of 1902 which forbids any Gun Control restrictions on We the People and also divides the militia into three distinct and separate entities.

What does a Hitler Survivor have to say about Guns ?
She says "Keep your Guns and Buy more Guns!"

The moment you allow yourself and your nation to be disarmed,
is the moment you become a potential slave.

Gun Control Myths

According to Wikipedia:

"The effectiveness and safety of guns used for personal defense is debated. Studies place the instances of guns used in personal defense as low as 65 thousand times per year, and as high as 2.5 million times per year. Under President Clinton, the Department of Justice conducted a survey in 1994 that placed the usage rate of guns used in personal defense at
1.5 million times per year, but noted this was likely to be an overestimate."

"McDowall's study for the American Journal of Public Health contrasted with the 1993 study by Kleck, who found that 2.45 million crimes were thwarted each year in the United States by guns, and in most cases, the potential victim never fired a shot. The results of the Kleck studies have been cited many times in scholarly and popular media."

Even at only 1 million instances of guns thwarting crime a year, a very conservative estimate, that is equivalent to over 2700 times per day that showing or using a gun stops a crime. Whether you are a woman, handicapped or senior citizen, wielding a weapon levels the playing field and truly allows you to defend yourself against an attacker.

Rabbi explains "Gun Control Act of 1968 was patterned extensively after NAZI German Gun Control Laws..... demonstrated how the same phrases and restrictions in the NAZI LAW were copied, sometimes verbatim from the translation into American law."

This video was posted May 17, 2012. At the 9 minute mark, Rabbi Dovid Bendory predicts "America stands poised on an emerging into European nanny state socialism. There is no room in this dilusional grand scheme for the armed citizen. " It appears this prediction from a year ago is being fulfilled.

4) "Americans need not fear the federal government because they enjoy the advantage of being armed, which you possess over the people of almost every other nation." ~ James Madison.

5) "The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference; they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." ~ George Washington.

6) "The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun." ~ Patrick Henry.

11) "I carried it (a revolver) religiously and during the summer I asked a friend, a man who had been one of Franklin's bodyguards in New York State, to give me some practice in target shooting so that if the need arose I would know how to use the gun." ~ Eleanore Roosevelt.

12) "By calling attention to 'a well regulated militia', the 'security' of the nation, and the right of each citizen 'to keep and bear arms', our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important." ~ John F. Kennedy.

Assault Weapon Bans Do Not Work

Under 10 Years of an Assault Weapon Ban from 1994 to 2004,
there were 27 School Shootings and 165 Injured or Killed.

According to Wikipedia:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention studied the “assault weapon” ban and other gun control attempts, and found “insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of any of the firearms laws reviewed for preventing violence,” noting “that insufficient evidence to determine effectiveness should not be interpreted as evidence of ineffectiveness.”[8] A 2004 critical review of research on firearms by a National Research Council panel also noted that academic studies of the assault weapon ban “did not reveal any clear impacts on gun violence” and noted “due to the fact that the relative rarity with which the banned guns were used in crime before the ban … the maximum potential effect of the ban on gun violence outcomes would be very small….”[9]

In 2004, a research report submitted to the United States Department of Justice and the National Institute of Justice found that should the ban be renewed, its effects on gun violence would likely be small, and perhaps too small for reliable measurement, because rifles in general, including rifles referred to as “assault rifles” or “assault weapons”, are rarely used in gun crimes.

Actually, the Founders were so fearful of a strong central power that they did not even want the top picture - a standing army. That is why they had state militias comprised of We the People. The people were the army. They did not fund a federal central army. But they did fund a navy to protect our borders. The Founders understood that if an enemy were to penetrate the navy and the borders, they would then have to contest with an armed citizenry. The congress funded a central navy, not army...for fear it could one day come against the people. The intent was that We the People are the Master and our Representatives are the Servants.
