For our last adventure of the year, let's walk the new(ish) Gibraltar Peak Track at Tidbinbilla... in Santa Hats!
Here is a link to an article written recently by Tim the Yowie Man which gives a good description on what you can expect to see. The walk is 8.2km return, will take approx 3 hours and is graded medium to hard.
Here is a link to a map of Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve so you can see where the Dalsetta Car Park is (near number 3).
Afterwards we can have a picnic at the Flints Picnic area (see near number 8 in map above) and a few drinks while we talk about what adventures to plan for next year.
What to bring:
Is bush walking not your thing? Never mind, why not meet us for the picnic after the walk. Just come to the Flints Picnic area around 12 noon and look for the Santa Hats.
BYO PLATE, chair/ rug, CUP AND CUTLERY FOR PICNIC!Sorry for my tardy reponse. I really enjoyed the walk, views, champers and lunch, but most enjoyed meeting such lovely people. I look forward to many more catch ups. Thanks Natalie for the day!!!

So sorry for the no-show. I was off having my own little adventure as I got very lost trying to find my way via Uriaara rather than by the Tuggeranong Parkway as planned.

Hi, hope you had a great walk and picnic ... sorry I couldn't make it, but I slept in and things snowballed from there. I hope everyone has a really great Christmas and New Year, and look forward to new adventures in 2013.

I was last again but satisfied that I conquered the challenge. Everyone was gone when I got back to the car and, being tired, I got confused and went to the wrong picnic grounds. Drove around for awhile trying to find you all (where I went had several picnic grounds at the end of unsealed roads so I ended up quite off the beaten track). In the end I gave up and came home.

The walk was beautiful and everyone was lovely! Very well organised too :)

Hi everyone, this is my first meet up and I am looking forward to it. Sue, is there any chance that you still have space in your car for one extra? I live in Monash.

Car pooling is a great idea! Does any one have any room in their car for a car-pool? I live in the Kingston area. This sounds like a great event. :)

Hi I'm new to this group. I'm unsure what time I'll be back from the coast as this stage. I will RSVP on Saturday if that's okay. I'm in Belco and would be happy to share the drive with others.
December 11
I'm in Fadden, and can give a couple of people a lift, if you can get to my place, or I can pick you up if you live somewhere on the way to Tidbinbilla!
December 7
Is anyone from the Weston Creek/Woden area going to this who can offer me a lift, please? I live in Waramanga. Cheers!

Anyone from the Watson area heading on this walk? I don't have a car, but I'd like to go on this walk. Thanks.

Just a reminder that there is an entry fee to Tidbinbilla. Here is the link to the full list but basically it is $10 per car (up to 8 people)! So if you car pool, you get in cheaper! Leave a message in this comments section if you are interested in car pooling.

Also, we will be having a Christmas raffle on the day, tickets will be $5.00 each and all proceeds will go towards organiser fees for this meetup group. Bring $5.00 on the day to buy your raffle ticket. Please support this worthy cause :)
