Lake Burley Griffin - 23km or 31km!

This is a walk especially designed for our Canberra Walking Festival volunteers so they can also enjoy the walk. Plus it gives us a final opportunity to test out the route and make sure that no changes are needed. That said, any other walkers are more than welcome to come along too - the more the merrier.

On Saturday we'll be walking the longer distances of the Loop the Lake route - the Central and Western Basins (approx 23km) and for those who want to walk the entire lake, you can also include the wetlands to take the distance up to 31km. For the true die-hards, you can join me for the marathon distance (42.2km) which will be starting an hour earlier (listed separately on Meetup).
On Sunday we'll be walking the 20 and 30km routes (listed separately on Meetup).

We'll meet on Blackall St - near the corner of Kings Ave - there is some on street parking available, but if this is all taken, please park in the free public car park about a 100m up the road behind the Ottoman Restaurant.

This walk will take quite a while to complete, so you should bring along a packed lunch and snacks to eat along the way.

Of course, we'd love you to come along to our main event too (5-7 April), but if you can't make that, then you could still enter and complete the walk with the volunteers.

Cost for this walk is a $2 donation to the Heart Foundation. Volunteers and others completing the Canberra Walking Festival event in advance will need to complete an official entry form and pay the entry fee - see link below or there will be entry forms available on the day.

Lastly, I would appreciate if any walkers register as a Heart Foundation Walker: - for public liability coverage - if you are not a Heart Foundation Walker, I will need you to sign a release form on the day of the walk.

I just love walking around the lake!! Thanks for the company to those who walked with me - I managed to catch up with the 32km walkers by the end, but it was a struggle!

Please note the change to parking arrangements for this walk - don't park in the CSU grounds.
