Go West Hike! (Beginner Hike - 2 miles)

Go West, young man! I think that is the famous saying so let's follow it and hike west! The time change is this coming weekend so we better get out and take in the Buttermilk Trail while we can! We will meet at the Reedy Creek parking lot and hike west on the Buttermilk to 42nd St. where we will exit the trail and down the spiral staircase to the fireroad. We take a quick dip in the water and then hike the fireroad back to Reedy Creek. This will be a shorter hike since the sun is setting earlier on us. But we will still get some quality time in together.

Interested in getting into hiking with your dog, but not sure if your dog is ready for the mileage of our regular hikes? Then Starter Hikes are for you! Starter Hikes are 1-2 miles in length and designed for people and dogs wanting to begin hiking with us but not ready yet to tackle a regular 4-5 mile hike. By doing a number of shorter hikes, your dog can build up his/her mileage gradually, and eventually be ready for longer hikes. Because these are shorter hikes, the charge will be $5 per person. (Starter Hikes are also great for older dogs or puppies who aren't up for the higher mileage - or for humans who aren't up for the mileage or more rugged trails.)

The hike will be about 2 miles and dogs will be on-leash. All dogs welcome! Questions? Email me through Meetup or post your question in the comments.

We are thrilled that folks are enthusiastic about joining us on our hikes! Please understand that we can only accommodate a certain number of folks and pups on a given hike. Our group sizes are limited to ensure that we can effectively manage each group. You are welcome to RSVP with a guest (or two), but if the hike is filled up, please respect our limitations. There are more hikes on the way, you won't be left out!

A quick lost dog update- Chris has posted on the neighborhood stray watch list and I posted on Virginia Lost and Found Dogs as well as Hills and Heights news. Hopefully that sweet dog will find it's owner. Thank you everyone for trying this evening in the dark and staying late. Fingers crossed!

Gritz, Nash, Lila, Enzo, Choco and Weston took advantage of the beautiful evening by getting some trail hiking in on the Buttermilk. After a quick dip and as the sun set, we walked the fire road together and let our pups enjoy each others company. Thank you everyone for coming out- see you on your next hike!
