Flood Wall Plus (Beginner/Intermediate Hike - 4-5 miles)

Join me and Garth (and possibly Andrew) on Saturday morning for one of our favorite hikes.  If you've never hiked the Floodwall, you're in for a treat -- the views of the river and city are spectacular.  Be sure to bring a camera.

Hike Description: We will meet behind Suntrust and hike along the Floodwall Trail, then through the woods to Ancarrow's Landing, then turn around and retrace our steps.  This is an easy hike with mostly level terrain and good footing on pavement, gravel and dirt, with only a small section on a trail.  There are a couple tall flights of stairs, but that's the most challenging it gets.  This is a great hike for beginners as well as seasoned hikers.

Please wear appropriate trail shoes that you don't mind getting wet - no flip flops.  This hike will be entirely on-leash.  For everyone's safety, no flexi-leashes and no leashes that attach to your body.  Bring water for you and your dogs.

Meet Location: Meet behind the Suntrust buildings off of Semmes Ave. Turn on 12th Street and go behind the buildings and park on the street. Mapquest isn't completely clear so look for the Suntrust buildings and and look for my car (gold CRV) parked on Railroad (AKA Riverview) Avenue behind Suntrust. You can also turn off Semmes on an un-marked street next to a big blue sign in the grass that says "Suntrust Mortgages". If you're going south on the Manchester Bridge, this is the first right off Semmes. 12th street is the second right, and you can turn on either. The street where we park is called Railroad Avenue on the map, but the street sign says Riverview Avenue, so don't let that throw you off.

(Although this hike is for friendly dogs, please keep in mind that even friendly dogs can have space issues, so when we're waiting, please don't let your dog greet another dog without first asking the owner's permission, and be careful with snout-to-snout greetings.)

We are thrilled that folks are enthusiastic about joining us on our hikes! Please understand that we can only accommodate a certain number of folks and pups on a given hike. Our group sizes are limited to ensure that we can effectively manage each group.  You are welcome to RSVP with a guest (or two), but if the hike is filled up, please respect our limitations.  There are more hikes on the way, you won't be left out!

***Please don't RSVP that you're not coming unless you have previously RSVPed "yes" and need to cancel.***

IMPORTANT:  Please review our page on General Hike Information before you RSVP (http://www.meetup.com/CanineAdventure/pages/General_Information_for_All_Hikes/).  This will ensure that you're ready to attend one of our hikes!

Garth and I are looking forward to seeing everyone!  It's been too long!

This was one of the prettiest hikes that I've been on. I didn't even know about the Richmond Slave Trail, and although it has a tragic history, it certainly is a beautiful trail.

Roxie and I look forward to our first hike with the group! We are "mature" girls... and may not feel like the entire 5 miles... but will see how the "joints" are working tomorrow!

Hi Kimberly! We'd love to have you join us, but you need to RSVP. There are still two spaces available but our hikes often fill up, so RSVP soon. We also offer shorter, "starter hikes" that are about 2 miles, but this particular hike is an easy 4-5 miles -- and we have lots of "mature" hikers in our group.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
