Rain, Rain, Rain go away and come back another day! Looks like RVA is going to have multiple showers over the next few days so we will take our hiking to the streets! (and avoid slippery trails!)
We will meet behind the big Suntrust building off of Semmes/Cowardin Ave. and hit the Floodwall towards the city. We will cross the Hull St. bridge and jump on the Canal Walk where we will take in street art and cool architecture. Heading onto Brown's Island we will dip down to the river for a quick swim/cool off on the hidden beach area near the pipeline.
After some sand in our shoes, we will continue across Brown's Island and head to Belle Isle. We will enjoy the river and some swim time before heading across the wooden bridge and out the back of Belle Isle. We will then weave our way under the Manchester Bridge and back to the cars.
The hike is mostly flat and on-leash. Please email me with any questions!
Meet behind the Suntrust buildings off of Semmes Ave. Turn on 12th Street and go behind the buildings and park on the street. Mapquest isn't completely clear so look for the Suntrust building. You will park behind the buildings Railroad (AKA Riverview) Avenue behind Suntrust. You can also turn off Semmes on an un-marked street next to a big blue sign in the grass that says "Suntrust Mortgages." If you're going south on the Manchester Bridge, this is the first right off Semmes. 12th street is the second right, and you can turn on either. The street where we park is called Railroad Avenue on the map, but the street sign says Riverview Avenue, so don't let that throw you off.
We are thrilled that folks are enthusiastic about joining us on our hikes! Please understand that we can only accommodate a certain number of folks and pups on a given hike. Our group sizes are limited to ensure that we can effectively manage each group. You are welcome to RSVP with a guest (or two), but if the hike is filled up, please respect our limitations. There are more hikes on the way, you won't be left out!
