Weston's Buttermilk Hike

Well, the vet said no hiking for Weston this weekend BUT Weston said we should hike in his honor and carry on the torch. Besides, he checked the weather on his smartphone (that he got for Christmas) and it is showing 72 degrees for Sunday! We need to get outside and soak it up while we can.

Since Weston's favorite hike is the Buttermilk trail, let's do it. We will meet at the 42nd St. entrance of Forest Hill Park and take off for the Buttermilk trail. On our long hike last week, we spotted a cool looking water spot off of the fire road, so we check that out for some playtime.

This hike will be on trail and fireroads. Buttermilk is up and down but not too bad. Wear good shoes and bring water since the temps will be warmer than we are used to this time of year.

We are thrilled that folks are enthusiastic about joining us on our hikes! Please understand that we can only accommodate a certain number of folks and pups on a given hike. Our group sizes are limited to ensure that we can effectively manage each group. You are welcome to RSVP with a guest (or two), but if the hike is filled up, please respect our limitations. There are more hikes on the way, you won't be left out!

Thank you to everyone that came out on this beautiful Sunday! It was fun to hike the top of Belle Isle and check out the wonderful views of the quarry and river. It was great to catch up with everyone and meet our new friends, too! Hope you enjoy the photos- my first time with the camera. I promise I will keep practicing! See you on your next hike!

Do you know (approximately) how long the hike will take? I just want to make sure I actually have enough time in my day.

    Thanks!!

The park is really easy to find, well the parking lot is anyway! From Forest Hill Ave- turn on 42nd Street (riverside) and the parking lot is about 3 blocks up on the left hand side. Turn left and then head right and you will see cars. We park right in front. You will see lots of folks with their dogs standing around. See you Sunday!

I started taking my puppy, Guru, when he was about 8 months. It has been very good for him! I think the dogs really like being in a pack moving along.

Hello, my Whippet (Rousseau) is only 8 months old and has never gone on a long hike. I'm wondering what your opinion might be on joining this hike? He could definitely use some socializing since he's a little skittish toward smaller dogs (he warms up after a few minutes) I think he'd love to go on a hike but I don't want to over do it.
