Photographing Competitive Sailing and other Action Sports (Session 1)

Inspired by having the world’s fastest wind powered boats and the world’s best sailors right here in the Bay Area, we thought it only appropriate to share tips with you from our resident Pro Photographer and Canon Expert, David Henry.

David will share his secrets on how to get great images of the racing events with camera set-up, proper lens selection, metering and focusing techniques. See some of his best vantage points to shoot from, while he shows examples from various locations. Also, learn about shooting video with your EOS camera and how to “tell the story” so it all makes sense in the final piece.

This class will take the guesswork out of shooting the race, and the timing at our San Francisco facility couldn’t be better.

Even you are not photographing sailing this class has something for you.  The techniques you will learn can be applied to any type of action photography.

Note:  This "Photograph Competitive Sailing" class is is a repeat of the class on August 28th.

This is a Canon Live Learning San Francisco event.  After you RSVP, you must register and pay the $20 fee to attend. Use the following link to register for this workshop.

Dave is a wonderful instructor and the topic was relevant and new. I thoroughly enjoyed this offering. The only thing that might have improved the class just a bit would have been a little more photography technique related to "how" to shoot the boats and less technical camera specifics. I mean, the goal is not to send a bunch of students out there as clones using the same lenses and settings but offer the universal foundation that lets them experiment. That being said, it was still a very worthwhile class. Thanks!

I have sailed hundreds of bay and ocean races including three from SF to Hawaii. This is perfect timing as I work to improve shooting club races and the Louis Vuitton/America's Cup races with my new Canon.
