A New Close-Up World: Macro Workshop

Join us at Canon’s downtown San Francisco showroom space for an afternoon of exploration using Canon Macro lenses. ($39 fee, see below)


The fee for this class is $39.  To only way to register for this event is to use the following link.  There is no RSVP through the meetup.  That is why the RSVP shows zero spots available.  Space is limited to 16 attendees.  Doors will open at 12:45pm.


Our instructor, Jim Rose, will introduce the class to the fundamentals of shooting macro, what to consider when choosing lenses and lighting your tiny subjects. The majority of the day will be spent experimenting with hands-on exercises photographing a variety of subjects, such as flower portraits with studio lighting and special macro projects including milk drops frozen in time and reflections in water droplets.

Join a small group of fellow enthusiasts exploring a new view of the world. The day will end with the opportunity to make a print of your favorite image from the days shoot.

The ins and outs of macro equipment…. what’s right for the job

How to create a macro studio in your home

Water droplet photograph made easy

Using flash in macro situations

Macro flower portraits

Ultra high magnification macro

What to bring:

Your camera and lenses (whatever macro equipment you have)

Fully charged battery or two

Memory card

Tripod and cable release

What is provided:

Canon macro lenses and macro flashes

Various macro setups to photograph

You will come away with a number of different types of macro shots that you create

Canon notebook, pen and lens cloth

Instructional material

Coffee, water and light snacks
