Special Holiday Open House

Canon Live Learning–San Francisco is having an Open House and you’re invited!

On Saturday, November 23, 2013, come visit us for the Holiday Open House of our educational classroom space located at 201 California St (corner of California St. & Front St., in downtown San Francisco — a short walk from the BART Embarcadero station).

The Open House will be held from 12pm to 5pm; please feel free to come any time you can make it during this 5-hour event. You’ll have the opportunity to see our educational space, ask questions to our Canon experts AND we’ll have a studio set-up using the 600EX-RT Speedlites, with a live model — so bring your camera!
Best of all.....it’s free!

We’ll have the latest & greatest cameras and lenses, such as the brand new EOS 70D and EF[masked]mm Super Telephoto for you to try out! A few lucky attendees will also have the chance to go home with some great prizes.

If you are a Canon pro shooter, hobbyist or enthusiast, you don't want to miss out on this great event. Canon is dedicated to enhancing your education on our products and how to get the most from them at our downtown San Francisco showroom location.

Classes are in full swing right now on numerous types of photography such as Landscapes, Macro, Portraits, Sports, and One-on-One training, just to name a few. From time to time, we’ll also have special guest speakers. Please join us for this informative FREE evening and learn the possibilities of this very special place just for you!

    Larry,

I am sorry also that you felt unwelcome and were uncomfortable. I hope that you will try again at another meet up.

Thanks Tom. I do intend to. Please don't get the wrong impression. I'm not complaining at all...I'm just expressing my experience. I didn't realize my comment would be posted here...I thought it was for a rating comment. The information and demonstrations provided was great. I left with some understanding from hearing their interactions with others but I was unable to have any of my specific questions answered.

For my first time in such an environment, I honestly didn't feel welcomed. I felt as though I was bothersome, thus why I left after about 45 minutes. The three people I attempted to engage in conversation about lenses, lighting and classes were very short with me but very engaged with the individuals before and after me.

I thought it was just me, but the person I came with also noticed it. He opted to step outside to avoid confrontation. Didnt know that until after I decided to leave and he asked why I was leaving. I drove from Rohnert Park specifically for this event. The information that I was able to overhear was valuable...wish I could have engaged more.

Peter, you are correct about being able to utilize the equipment, but when I had questions, it was if I was bothersome. The people were very short. I was speaking to the guy who was working with lighting. We broke for the drawing, but he said as soon as we finish, lets see where you are. After the drawing was over, I came back to the spot where the lighting was set up. I was there waiting on him. He came over and two guys walked up and began talking and they talked for over 20 minutes. I stood there patiently waiting. He never even acknowledged my presence. Even when I first arrived, I went into the conference room where the refreshments were. The person who I now know as the model, ran out of the room so quickly after I spoke. I came in and said HELLO, how are you? And she hightailed it out of the room so quick. Overall, it was very uneasy. I felt as if they really didn't want to engage with me, but I watched how they were VERY ENGAGED with the person before and after me.

I went with a friend of mind and we had a great time. We also learned a lot. We got our questions answered about flash photography using multiple speedlites.

Thank you Jim, Dave, Eric and Robert for the fun and informative Open House... Everyone was helpful and friendly... Eric did an excellent job at explaining the Canon Speedlite system with the new radio transmitter (ST-E3-RT), and working with the nice model. My Canon Meetup Group had a great time will worth the 3.5 hour drive down from Redding. Again thanks.

Very helpful, learned a lot and about the video function of the new 70D and even thinking of getting one. And more importantly, Eric introduced the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT so engaging by letting us try it in shooting live model and explaining in less techno terms but in a very simple to understand functions of this accessory. I am convinced this will be in my wish list , thanks Eric!

Lots of cameras and lenses to try out. Knowledgable crew ready to answer any question. And most importantly for me, the latest pieces of equipment on the market right here on the table. I am glad I went.

It was great. I learned a lot, saw a lot of wish-worthy cameras, lenses, printers, etc. Seeing the equipment in operation and getting the chance to use the model setup was a good learning experience. Comparing the various cameras and lenses was informative and made me wish I had started getting involved with good digital cameras years ago.

Jim, will there be a Canon Pixma Pro-1 demo at the open house? I have a student interested in that printer and would like to see a demo maybe even have a small print made of one of her images. Looking forward to the Open house, we have 5 of my Shasta Canon DSLR Camera Group coming down to see your Learning Center and the Canon Gear...
    Thanks, Duane Brovan

There will be a Pro 1 printer rep attending to demo the printer. I'm not sure if he will be printing for attendees of not, but bring the file just in case.
