**********

Join professional photographer — and Mom — Laura Morita for an inspiring and informative session that's perfect for parents who want to make the move from snapshots to great photographs of their families, friends and especially children. Laura first started shooting with a Canon EOS Rebel when her second child was one year old. For the first year, she kept the dial on “Auto” until she was truly ready to learn how to take control over her camera and have creative freedom. Now, six years later, she is taking beautifully posed and candid portraits, which are colorful, fun, full of life and, most of all, capture the essence of her subjects.

During this daytime MeetUp at Canon’s downtown San Francisco showroom, she will be discussing how to move from taking snapshots to professional grade images with digital SLR cameras. Learn the basics of exposure, focus, composition, lenses, light and how to quickly translate this into wonderful images of loved ones. She will walk you through her thought process when she is getting ready to take an image — and do it in a way that’s fun and inspiring, not technical. If you’re ready to take photography with your digital SLR camera to the next level, you won't want to miss this!

The session started slow, with some very basic info about exposure. However, Laura's presentation about using natural lighting for portraits and tips on how to pose her subjects were really helpful. I learned a lot.

This seems perfect for me, but I'm a stay at home mom with a two year old and a four month old baby so child care is not an option for me to attend without the kids in tow. Would that be too disruptive to the class if I had to bring them along?

Hi Denise, Thanks for your message. I really hate to say no to you about this however it won't be fair to the other attendees. If there is anything you can work out for childcare we would love to have you attend. This will be a fantastic class!
