Critique and Print

Be sure to visit our Canon Live Learning San Francisco page to see the full list of classes and workshops here:

********** Two things you must do to register for this class: 1. RSVP here FIRST and then . . . 2. You MUST register for this class ($10) on our Canon site here:

This meet-up is a great opportunity to bring your digital image files for critique by our Canon expert, Dave Henry. Dave will place your files on a computer and project them for the group to see so he can best explain, in this learning environment, ways to improve items like composition, lighting, exposure and use of color. He will also be printing one of your favorite images to take home on our professional PIXMA Pro-1 printer. It’s an evening to learn, not only how to improve your style of photography, but perhaps get new ideas and inspiration from viewing the work of others.

What you will learn:

Our Canon expert will critique your images and give constructive criticism on what could be improved. Your peers will also weigh in on which is their favorite of your three images. Learn great ideas from others, as well as find new and exciting places to explore your photography.

What to bring:

Three files sized at 13’x19” at 300 dpi on a flash drive
Create a folder with you name and place the files in that folder
What is provided:

Three files sized at 13" x 19" at 300 dpi on a flash drive
Canon notebook and pen
Excellent instruction
Coffee, water and light snacks

Dave is great, as always. I am noticing an issue with registration. I think I registered at Canon Live Learning, thus my name does not show up on Meetup (on the right side of this page)? Or maybe Jim does not think it's good to see me, haha.

Great stories, tips, and critiques from Dave Henry, plus a print - what's not to love?!

Hi Jim! I had a few questions as a first timer to an event like this:

    1. Should I save the JPEGs I intend to bring with a certain imbedded ICC printer profile for the PIXMA PRO-1?

    2. Related to the above question, should I have DNG versions of the same files for printing option flexibility?

    3. Can I bring a separate (4th) imagine to print instead of one of the 3 I'm submitting for critique?

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to meeting new folks!

What's the best format for our image files; RAW (CR2) or JPG?

      Interesting...never heard that before, thanks.

Aamir, just as an FYI, it is possible to print from a RAW CR2 file in our Digital Photo Professional software however for the purposes of this class, we request a JPEG or TIFF. Hope that clears it up!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
