Learn about the qualities of light, how to create effective compositions and use color relationships to make your images stand out from the rest. Learn how Lewis Kemper, a well-known nature photographer, applies these techniques to make his images unique and recognizable. In this class, Lewis will show you examples of different principles relating to light, color and composition, the techniques discussed will include:

Composing more varied and effective images.Expanding your ability to "see" images.Learning how to think about the direction and characteristics of light.Using color just as you can use lines, shape and form to enhance your compositions.Grasping the concept of the color wheel and how to use color relationships deliberately to build vibrant images.Giving a distinctive feel to your images based on cool tones with a warm accent; warm tones with cool accent, pastels, and saturated color; monochromatic color, and the paradoxical No, Color, Color.Mastering composition fundamentals including the rule of thirds, leading lines, repeated patterns, horizontal vs. vertical, and horizon placement.Simplifying your images and emphasize the important elements of the composition.Learning to expand the dynamic range of your image with HDR imaging -- Lewis will demonstrate 5 different techniques for processing HDR.
