David Crook, our new Microsoft Evangelist is going to introduce us to game development.

Intro to Game Development with Unity

Learn the basics to 2D video game development with Unity.  Unity is a low learning curve cross platform game engine used by AAA title studios to produce some of the best games in the world.  This session will cover the basics on how to get started with Unity discussing rendering, collision, physics, and basic scripting.

Please come prepared with the latest version of Unity installed (at this point it is 4.3) along with all of the files from this location: http://indiedevspot.azurewebsit...

If you have an opportunity to pop Unity open and just explore a little, that will help as well.  Maybe open the sample platformer framework included in the link and just poke at things :).

I'll also tune the talk based on everybody's experience and capabilities.  I've taught this material to over 1,000 students so far :).

He has taught this session to young adults as young as 10 and to adults as old as me. It is a great introduction to coding and is of interest to the experienced coders as well.

There will be food and drink and awesome swag.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
