Two possible topics for next PHP meetup

Hi Guys,

There are two topics I'd like to suggest as possible topic(s) for a next meetup concerning PHP. These would involve respectively;

1. A tutorial on the use of Namespaces in PHP, illustrated by examples from "real-life applications".

2. Techniques for Defensive Programming in PHP.

This last might be more suited for a debate kind of session, with the speaker acting more in the role of a catalyst or facilitator.

What do you think about these topics; would they interest you and might you be able to contribute or be willing to speak on them?

Regards,
George

    The subject of a project/collaborative coding exercise came up and it was decided to implement a PHP version of TodoMVC ( http://todomvc.com/ ) using 3 popular frameworks. These are Zend 2, Laravel and Symfony 2.

    There will be a shared repo on Github where code will be committed, the project will be planned as we progress and talks should be aligned with the project so that the subject of the talk addresses some functionality in the project. (Make sense? Everyone agree?).

    The next meet up will probably happen next year February, with dates to be advised.

    'Around' the 5th of December there will be a security workshop, addressing security in PHP. It will be after work on a weekday, probably from 6 PM and there is a nominal cover charge of R100. Food and drinks will be supplied. Theo will give more information.

    It was a great meet up and everyone contributed and heard each other out, with no fist fights breaking out over frameworks :)

    Whenever this does get scheduled for, lets do it after a more casual get-together and add these (good) suggestions to the list?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
