PHP Security Workshop - OWASP Top 10

Presented By Stephan Steynfaardt - Buy Ticket/s

With the latest XSS and CSRF attacks on Twitter, PayPal and Facebook, security is still obviously a very difficult thing to get right.
Every 3 years, the open web application security project (OWASP) releases a new Top 10 vulnerabilities, this talk will walk you through 2013s list.
I'll present you the possible attack scenarios and how you can protect against them.
In addition we'll look at more security issues which are not part of the Top 10, but that you should definitely keep in mind.

Please be aware is a paid event- R120 per person for Pizza and Beverages. Venue could be changed - but will keep everyone posted

Hi guys, I realised that the VirtualBox installations could take up a lot of time, so I've changed the code we will be looking at.

VirtualBox is no longer required, as long as you have apache and PHP on your laptop, or just php 5.4 or greater if you don't have apache installed.

    See you all later!

Hi Stephan - I see that in order to run VirtualBox, we also need the install media (presumably for ubuntu server) - is there any specific one you'd prefer us to all have? (or maybe a live filesystem ISO ? )

I'm thinking about bringing a friend who is interested in security. However, he doesn't have any php experience, would it still be worth it for him to attend?

Hey Kaitlyn, we are going to to focus mostly on PHP, there will however be parts that show how to spot weaknesses in any website and server as well, but form a code side, we'll only be looking at PHP.

Hi guys please bring your laptops along as well, as it will be quite an hands on session.

If you don't already have Virtual Box on your laptop, if possible please install it to save some time: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

    Thanks,
    See you guys on Thursday!

Hello! Is anyone welcome to join the event?

Awesome! We discussed the real basic of security at the last meetup, and the guys wanted to focus more on how to write more secure code. So we'll be going through the OWASP top 10, for the next couple of Meetups.
