Floodwood Road has a host of primitive camping sites that are accessible by car. The paddling and swimming opportunities are endless and I have had a fine time exploring this area.
The plan is to go up Saturday morning (now Friday) and secure a site somewhere along the road. You may think that labor Day weekend would be crowded and hard to get a site but my experience has been just the opposite as familys and college kids are getting ready for the start of school. I don't have a particular paddle or time in mind it will be the whim of whoever shows up. I will place a CDK (Capital District Kayakers) flag or sign so you are able to find the site.
Basically Floodwood road is a paved to dirt road that has sites all along on either side. If anyone wants to caravan up we can decide on a meeting spot & time. Everyone is responsible for their own food & supplies, but as usual we always like to share a potluck meal. Please familiarize yourself with the DEC primitive camping rules. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7872.html
