Welcome to Capital District Kayakers!
This group if for paddlers of all experience levels, from beginners to the diehards. We provide an almost full year of paddling and social events from Kingston to Lake Placid, with many being right here in the Capital District. Most trips are for just a few hours but others could be day trips or even overnight...camping and/or hotels.
If you are a beginner, we will recommend some local classes or post some here ourselves...don't be afraid to ask for help in learning and/or buying a boat to suit your needs.
We will strive to follow NYS boating laws and regulations as best we can, While we all look out for each other, we expect each person to accept responsibility for their own safety by realizing their limits.
Each event will have rules that are posted by the Event Host and each member attending must abide by those rules. Remember that the Event Host is inviting you to join them. Be respectful and be ready to launch at the scheduled time. If you cannot make it to an event, please remove your rsvp so people are not expecting you, or worse yet, you prevent someone else from attending. Repeated no shows will be held accountable and may be removed from the group for an extended time.
This group is focused on providing peaceful and fun events that could take you to places you have never been before...or maybe you will take us to one of those places. We also partake in paddles that are cultural, historical and knowledgeable...including benefits. While having fun, it is extra rewarding to give back to the community and the environment!
While we do not collect dues anymore, contributions made through the CHIP IN link are greatly appreciated and put to good use for the good of the entire group.
