Let's work as a group to collect supplies that are badly needed by the domestic violence shelter in Saratoga. where one of our members, DebraLeis  Lucas is a volunteer.

Domestic Violence  Services of Saratoga

480 Broadway

Saratoga Springs, NY 12866

[masked]

We can collect the items from now until January 24th and then I can take all of the items and deliver them to the shelter within the week. You can also give me these items if you see me at another event beforehand.

We can meet  at Wolf's 111 restaurant...the same place we met for the coat drive. We can have a nice meal or drink together there....it's a great place for pub food or a variety of brews. Let me know if you are staying for drink/meal or just dropping off supplies so I can reserve a table.

Donation Wish List-do not bring furniture or large items to Wolf's.

It is always fun and interesting to be with Sharon at these events. I was glad to meet some new people, also. I look forward to more events combining doing good deeds and enjoying others' company.

Hi all. I admire you all for keeping your rsvps in spite of the cold temperatures. Our reservation is under Capital District Volunteers and we have a big table set up to the left as you come through the front door. I will be in the parking lot from 5:30-6 taking what you have. I hope to park VERY close to the back door...borrowing my brother's silver Ford pickup. If you can't get there early just bring your stuff inside and we'll take it out then or later. See you later!!!

You guys were just over the top tonight...coming out in the freezing cold with arms full of wonderful and generous gifts. I just couldn't believe it...I actually cried tears of joy which are a nice switch from the tears of grief that I have shed these past couple weeks. This group just continues to amaze me and keep me hopeful!!!!! You're awesome. Special welcome to meetup newbies! You picked the perfect meetup event to start out with!

I just took down my grandson's crib, and I have a crib mattress that was literally used 5 times if that. I also have the cutest crib set. I'm wondering if someone couldn't use these items. They are too big to bring on the 24th though. Would someone be able to inquire if they need it before I put it on Craig's list?

    January 15, 2013

  • Bernie G.

Sure, I'll clean out my pick-up and we can drive it there. Still, i' m not sure if we shouldn't have someone from the shelter there to determine if what is loaded is needed of not. Based on the list, it looks like the shelter prefers new items to used. I'm going to my storage unit today to survey my stuff. I figure if it's something I'd use, the shelter could to. Yet, who knows?

I have a few next-to-new bras in various sizes. When my mom was at the shelter down in Schenectady, she said some women had the clothes on their back and that was it. Could I donate them if the shelter will take them?

    January 12, 2013

  • Bernie G.

Thanks for the list. I'll see what's available. as I said I have an old SONY TV, though not flat screen I believe its cable ready. May also have lots of kitchen items, but I have to look first. I will get back to you after I've entered my storage area. If there's nothing new enough, I guess a Boscov's gift card can be offered on the 24th.

Don't get overwhelmed...focus on what you can afford even if its a couple items from the Dollar Store.

Does all of the bedding and kitchen items really need to be new?
