PATC Map 4 / MD Bus
$25 for paid members (others $28).
Long hike: 12 mi., 2000 ft. ascent/descent. Short hike: 6½ mi., 1600 ft. ascent, 900 ft. descent. There is an option for the short hikers to add a few more miles at the end of the hike.
We venture north to two of Pennsylvania’s state forests for this longtime Capital favorite. The mountain laurel may be in bloom as we hike along several creeks. Views from the ridgeline await us. We will begin in a picnic area at Michaux State Forest and follow the Appalachian Trail (AT) north and up in elevation past hikers huts at Tumbling Run before climbing Buzzard Peak to enjoy the views for lunch. Then we continue north on the AT, with short hikers going as far as Rt. 233, and long hikers continuing past Rocky Mtn. all the way to Caledonia State Park. Short hikers will have the option to hike back along the picturesque creek and meet the long hikers
