Join Casey Trees and the Michigan Park Citizens Association as we add 25 trees to the grounds of St. Joseph’s Seminary in Ward 5. The beautiful St Joseph’s Seminary was founded to serve the African American community and has stood on this spot since the 1920s when the surrounding areas were farm and pasture land. Getting there The parking lot at the Seminary will be available to volunteers. Once this lot fills there is plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. The CUA/Brookland Station is a 1 mile walk and the 80 Metrobus line services this neighborhood.
We ask that volunteers arrive at 8:30 AM to register and get a light breakfast. The safety and tool demonstration will begin between 9 and 9:15. The plantings wraps up with a celebratory lunch typically around noon.
