We will meet at the Aptos Park and Ride, across from the Aptos Library on Soquel Drive 40 yards north of State Park Drive (which is your Hwy 1 exit.) At 8am we will ferry cars down to Moss Landing State Beach and return to Aptos. Then we will walk down to the Cement Ship and head south. We did this hike in the winter with Rene's group and it was a lovely walk in the sand for 15 miles and 5 hours. There were lovely stretches of beach with no other humans for miles. At Moss Landing State Beach we will squeeze into the cars and drive 1 minute across the bridge to Phil's Fish House to eat the meal you've just dreamed about for 5 hours while staring at and smelling the sea! After stuffing ourselves with seafood we will all return to Aptos together. If you sign up please be serious about attending and post how many people your car can seat. We need to make sure in advance that we ferry cars that have enough space to transport all the walkers back. We do cross the Pajaro River, which in a normal year would mean wading in a few feet of water. When we did this hike in late January the River was not making it to the sea. It ran dry before reaching the sea. I imagine that is the same but I am not guaranteeing it. Be prepared for the unlikely event of a water crossing. Bring lots of water, sunblock and all the snacks you will need to power yourself for 15 miles. Remember, walking in the sand is more tiring than walking on a firm surface. Any questions?
