Hiking Fall Creek

This hike will meet at the Fall Creek (Henry Cowell) dirt parking lot (look for the sign on the right on Felton Empire Road 1/2 mile uphill from the Hwy 9/Graham Hill traffic light in Downtown Felton. No permit is required to park in this lot and it has a sign identifying it as Fall Creek Unit of Henry Cowell Redwood State Park. It is very easy to pass as it is on the right hidden in the blind-spot of a right curve in the road. Go extra slow just before the 1/2 mile mark once you pass the Chevron station at Hwy 9. We will climb and descend 1800 feet over a 9-11 mile course. We are brisk hikers so know this is not a beginners hike. It is quite challenging. Be sure you can hike at 3 mph climbing before signing up.  The "usual suspects" can expect the usual pace.  Bring water and a snack or light lunch.  We'll take a 20 minute break approx. half way, at Trail's End.

I really enjoyed it too ! Sally, sorry it ran long. I hope your puppies were ok. Thanks for the note on my car LuLu. Peggy, I'm so glad you suggested dipping our toesThat was the most pleasurable thing on a hike in a long time! I think I'll make that a regular thing on hikes for anyone who's interested.

What a great hike today Sara. I'd give this 6 stars if I could. Also, thanks for showing us the different trails. Fantastic seeing all those butterflies, too!!

If this is more challenging than the Wilder Ranch we did I don't think I can do it....is the elevation similar or "worse?" :-)

Fall Creek is comparable to what you did at Wilder. So next time you see this hike and are available I think you can do it. But you will be tired at the end. :-)

Thanks - that gives me an idea then. If it is comparable then it may be doable.

Oooops, never mind, I have a very busy Wed ahead of me and could not make it anyway. Have fun!
