Monthly Meeting

Many thanks to the members who turned out for our October meeting to enjoy Polina Reznikov's presentation on Diving Papua New Guinea. Polina had the perfect balance of topside and underwater images to make us feel as thoough we were there with her. Thanks to the rest of her team (Joe, Fred and Marina) for providing world-class support.

Our November SISD Meeting will be a business meeting during which we will plan our activities for 2013 and have elections. If there is a position you are interested in, please make it known as this is how we can make our club adapt to changing times.

We are constently working on bringing "New blood" into the club - not to attract sharks but rather to allow the SISD to grow and accomodate changes in our local dive scene. An example is the recent "Beyond the Sea" initiative where divers changed a beach cleanup of Kaiser Park, Coney Island into a Dive Festival - we need to be more involved with activities like that. We also need to continue and expand our presence at LIDA, NRPA,NYC Sea Gypsies and Oceanblue.

Under discussion at the next meeting is the Captain Zero Memorial Scholarship Fund, where we can take it and how we can get there.

Finally we are thankful for the support of Treshers Dive Center, and will be participating in their first annual Scuba Flea Market on November 10th from 10 am to 2 pm. Bring your old gear and your wallet!

See you at 7pm on Wednesday November 7th at the Pepperjack Grill (formerly Scott's Armory Inn), 316 Manor Rd.

Captain Steve Lombardo, Pres.

I think we should initiate a "Lifetime Achievement" Award. I nominate Duke Roselli as the "Dean of Staten Island SCUBA instructors" as the first inductee.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
