Cross Cultural shock: main challenges for Expats

  • September 4, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Peter Nielsen will be talking about social as well as business challenges relating to settling in Switzerland, including Swiss core cultural values which drives the local behavior and which may give you a better insight into this particular cultural environment.

Peter will also talk us through a typical expatriate adjustment phase and will give advice on how to overcome culture shock and initial adjustment and thrive in Switzerland.

Please bring your own Swiss experiences to share and to perhaps get explained from a different cultural view.

Good to meet (almost) everyone! Great appreciation goes to Peter, Sabine, and Diogo for making the event happen. It was an enjoyable and fruitful first meetup for me in Zurich.

The real experiences living and working with the Swiss people shared by some and handy tips about answering questions we are not used to being asked from places we've been (US, UK, or what have you) are valuable survival aids in adapting to life in Zurich.

The Muntz outdoor space is nice for a summer meetup. I just wished Muntz had provided some (proper) lighting when it was already dark as it was difficult to see Peter's and everyone else's faces during the Q&A. I'm disappointed I never get to talk to others so please reach out. I would be glad to hear from you.

Hope to see everyone again next time!

      Hi Noel,
Great comments! Love the spirit of keeping the communication channel active and being honest about the event.
I am glad you liked, of course, and I thank you for coming.
The light problem was an issue, yes. Won't happen again, for sure. ;)

Hope we can all see you again tomorrow, at the next event...

Do we have a reserved or designated area at Munz?

Shall I say am there for the Meetup and the staff would know our event?

Also, I presume there is no cover charge whatsoever. If there is, I'd like to know how much as I may come with a plus two.

    Cheers!

Yes, we have a place outside. The staff knows about it. The event is completely free. Your +2 are welcome.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
