IHS Concert on the Canal - Cathy Morris

Join your Faith Friends and other Meetup groups on Thursday nights at the Indiana Historical Society concert series for Concerts on the Canal. The Kruse Family Stardust Terrace at the History Center will host a spectacular lineup of entertainers for 2010 including the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, Cool City Swing with Shannon Forsell and Jimmy Guilford, Cathy Morris, Tad Robinson and Tom Wright.

We will meet on July 15 for Cathy Morris and her famous jazz violin sound from 6-8 p.m. Meet on top of the grassy hill across the canal from the Historical Society Building, on Ohio Street. This area is in the sun, so bring sunscreen/umbrella.

An outdoor grill and cash bar will be available by Hoaglin To Go. Antipasto and Greek hors d’oeuvres plates for four or eight people may be pre-ordered up to one week in advance. Free seating is available on the Canal walk area. Guests may bring their own food and nonalcoholic beverages to the concert. No pets and no smoking are allowed on the Terrace. Parking is available on a first-come basis.

Sheri works downtown and can be over there saving an area as early as 5:15 p.m.

Music was good, but I was extremely disappointed in the Historical Society staff, who told me that we would be allowed inside for the concert when I called, and then told me no when I got there. And used the weather as an excuse. But I have a name to ask for the next time, so hopefully this WILL NOT happen again!

Just in case anyone is thinking of heading over to this but has not RSVP'd, we are still attempting outside. If it rains the concert WILL STILL BE HELD. It will be moved just inside the doors of the Historical Society Building. In which case just look for me. We have a large group coming from another Meetup group, so look for a group of people.

Gang, check back here tomorrow about 4:45. We're supposed to have thunderstorms tomorrow, and if they hit late afternoon that will impact the concert. It may be moved indoors, or it may be cancelled altogether, and I don't want to see folks drive downtown and then be disappointed. I'll post something here at or about 4:45 tomorrow.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
