Parade Mas Band - Optional
The parade is Saturday, August 3rd, from 10am - 6 pm. This is a parade where you can be more than a spectator. You can participate!!! When you participate in the parade it is called playing Mas. Mas is a Caribbean short form of masquerade. In its widest sense, Mas can refer to the carnival or festival itself, then to the procession or parade, and finally, in its most focused meaning, to one of the bands themselves. Everyone can play Mas - all ages (21- 80+), all races, all body types, those with rhythm and the rhythm challenged. This will be my first time attending Toronto’s Caribana. I have played Mas in Trinidad and I recommend everyone try it at least once.
We will play Mas with Tribal Knights. The 2013 theme is Beauty of Nature. We will be a part of the Autumn Section.
The costume price is $175 CAD (CAD is Canadian dollars) for males. Females prices are $185 CAD for backline, $225 CAD for midline, $300 CAD for frontline, and $500 CAD for section leader. Tammy and I have selected the frontline costume. Please reserve your costume as early as possible. Costumes may sell out without notice
