4th Annual Christmas Eve at Crowders

Come out for a fun run up Crowder's Mountain for a beautiful view! Wear your festive clothes and let's have a good time! I'll bring the hot chocolate if you bring the cookies! Hope to see you there and Merry Christmas!

**Start time is flexible, so post a comment and we can figure it out.

1. Going south on I85, take exit 13 and turn left onto Edgewood rd.
2. Go less than half mile and take right onto 29/74.
3. Go about 4 miles and take left onto sparrow springs road (you should see signs for crowders).
4. A little over half mile, the road splits, stay right (it almost looks like a right turn).
5. About a tenth mile turn right onto Park Lane
6. Then take your first right which will deadend into the visitors center.

What's the typical pace for this run?

    December 21, 2013

    • Marcus B.

Hey Mariana. I think you'll find quite a variety of paces that will show up. You may have some fast runners doing a 7ish pace and even some slower doing a 15ish. The pace will also vary with the terrain with some being slower than others depending on which route we choose tomorrow morning. Lastly, it will be a no-drop meaning we'll be letting folks catch up as we go along at various locations along the run.

I'll be in town, as long as tonight's party doesn't knock me out, I'll see everyone at 9!

I'll bake some cookies. Any special requests? I'll be on the slow side as my knee is still not right. What distances?

Alright gang, couple of questions have come my way about distances. There are many options. I have two 5 mile routes planned out. One that is a tad more strenuous (but a TON more fun with better views) than the other. For those of you wanting a shorter distance, there's an out-and-back option that gets you up to the pinnacle and is just under 4 miles. Want even less, there's a 1 mile trail around Shorts lake that you could do laps. When combined with the Fern trail, it'll get you right around 3 miles.

Personally, I plan on doing at least 5. We can break it up into groups based on mileage if we get a ton of folks (many times folks show up without RSVP'ing (boooooooo)

8:30 or 9:00 would be better. What kind of pace do you all run typically? Just Crowders and back to Sparrows?

    December 17, 2013

I'm definitely open to making it earlier if it is better for folks. Also open to the route. As for the pace. We usually have a variety of folks. I'll be taking it easy as I'm just now getting back at it after some time off from a long season.

9:00 AM works for me. Marcus, I can take some runners on a longer run, or perhaps faster pace, if needed. I guess we'll see who shows up first. :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
