What are Cary Chicks (and Cocktails) all about?
With our hectic lives, it’s easy to find yourself not having time to visit with friends much less make new ones. But an hour? Almost everyone can spare an hour – a cocktail and some laughs with new and old friends after a long day can be just what the doctor ordered!
This women’s social meetup welcomes women between the ages of 30 and 45 no matter their relationship status (single, married, dating, engaged, taking a break from men entirely) who are looking for some kick-their-heels-off fun with “the girls” for an hour or so on a regular basis.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Where are these cocktail hours held? Are they always in Cary?
They’re usually held in Cary or Raleigh, NC, but also all around the Triangle area including Chapel Hill and Durham (not limited to these areas). And no, you don’t need to live in Cary! If you live far away from Cary, though, there may not be enough nearby events for you.
How often are the meetups scheduled? Is there any kind of regular pattern?
They’re usually scheduled at least every other week on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7:00 pm. We often order appetizers, but you can just join us for a drink, too. We also plan dinners at local restaurants, host parties, see movies, check out local attractions, have an occasional "girls night out" going dancing, and try all sorts of fun things - we do a lot more than just the cocktail hours. Generally, though, we schedule cocktail hours most often.
Tell me more about the games and icebreakers you mentioned in the group description.
Every CCC cocktail hour includes some kind of icebreaker – conversation-starter questions or a game. These are great ways to not only get to know the other members, but we also end up having a blast! More laughter and interesting conversations are generated during this portion of the meetup than any other.
Why is this group private?
The problem with a lot of meetups is that the groups themselves are almost too diverse and members find they have little in common with the rest of the group, making them leave the group or rarely participate in events.
So how do I know if this is the right group for me?
Here are some basics that will help you decide if this group is right for you:
• You are considered by most people to be upbeat, friendly, and fun.
• You enjoy a cocktail or two (women who don’t drink probably won’t fit in).
• You live in or near Cary or you’re willing to travel.
• You’re 30 – 45 years old.
• You don’t take yourself too seriously. You know how to laugh at yourself and life!
No Show and Late Cancellation Policy
No Shows: Emergencies happen. Your boss calls a last-minute late afternoon meeting that runs over, your child gets the flu, your car battery dies – we’re living in the real world here and there will be times you can’t make a meetup you RSVP’d yes for. If you have a truly last-minute emergency and can’t make an event/cocktail hour, please email the organizer let her know what happened.
Late Cancellations: Canceling your attendance last minute changes the event dramatically. The game/icebreaker for the event has to be reworked (these are dependent on the number of participants), any reservations will have to be changed, and the quality of the event itself is transformed. If you're not sure if you can attend an event, wait until you know before signing up.
CCC is an active women's social group - we're all about getting together! Please join only if you intend to attend. Members who never attend cocktail hours/events will eventually be removed. You are welcome to rejoin when you have more time in your schedule to be an active member.
You might have your own business or something else you’re selling or promoting. CCC is not the venue for it, though. We want to promote a relaxed social atmosphere, and when people feel like they’re being pitched to, they often lose that warm-n-fuzzy we’re aiming for. Please don’t use the message boards or any events you choose to help organize as a platform for your business/other ventures. We appreciate it! Those who ignore this policy will be warned, and then removed from the group if the cease-and-desist request is ignored.
If you have an idea for a venue or an event – send us an email and let us know. We’re open to all suggestions.
