Casa Arjona is a regular middle class house, that at least once a month opens its door to the community to enjoy the most accredited local bands in a casual environment. For more than eight years, we have been doing these house concerts, bringing big names in Jazz and Brazilian Jazz (e.g. Abraham Laboriel, Justo Almario, Carlitos del Puerto, Katiá Moraes, Brasil Brazil, Frank Potenza, to mention only a few). As musicians, we believe that commercial venues not always respect the musicians, as they use them as a mere ornament or "wall paper," and do not pay them well. Instead, we emphasize an environment of respect to the musicians by paying attention to them when they are performing, and treating them well.
Casa Arjona is also affordable, since we ask for a donation to pay for the event expenses, and ask the audience to bring a little something to share --if possible--, but we also provide with drinks and home-made, healthy, and culturally rich ethnic food.
Last but not least, Casa Arjona is a true multi-cultural experience since we gather people from all ethnic groups and backgrounds, who have a common love and respect for music and art.
