The Cascadia Photography Group was started by people who took a photo composition class at BCC. This group is open to all photographers, but it is geared to serious amateur photographers who are interested in improving their skills. Anyone with any type of camera is welcome.
Photographers get better by taking lots of pictures and reviewing them to see what worked well and what went wrong. Photographers also improve by pushing themselves. This is where assignments come in. Our meetings are intended to provide a friendly environment to show photos for constructive feedback from other members and to provide a place to discuss photographic topics.
A typical meeting will start with attendees selecting a shooting assignment for the next meeting. These assignments might be things like shoot reflections, shoot geometric shapes, shoot black and white etc. Next attendees will show their best pictures from the last assignment for group critique. Then we might have a demo or a short presentation from a member on a photographic topic. And finally open discussion, questions, requests for help etc. Above all these meetings should be fun and informal.
