Let's spend a Weekend on Lake Winnipesaukee NH in Sept

  • Sep 20, 2013 · 7:30 PM
  • A House on Black Cat Island

A Lake Winnipesaukee weekend that includes two days of kayaking, overnight accommodations for 9 and a Potluck Dinner.  I have gotten us all a house up the Lake and this is a great chance to spend a weekend together with fellow kayakers.

We are planning for about 5 hrs of kayaking on Saturday and at least another couple on Sunday, this will be a chance to explore a number of the bays and islands at the Northern end of the Lake near Center Harbor at a perfect time of the year as the Fall Colors should be starting to come out.  Additional Casual Kayakers are being invited up on Saturday and to join us for the potluck party Saturday after kayaking.

Schedule:

Friday Night:  We will meet for dinner at around 7:30 at the “Canoe” 232 Whittier Hwy, Center Harbor NH and then meet back at the house at 9:30.

Saturday: Breakfast and then start paddling at 10:00, figure on about 5 hrs of kayaking including stop for some lunch and a rest. Everyone will be able to launch from the house which has plenty of parking and bathrooms to share.

Dinner: After I get all the rsvps I will ask people to notify us of what you would like to contribute and then keep a list so the meal is somewhat organized.  Beverages will be available but plan to bring your own beer and wine.  The Afternoon/ Dinner party gets started at 4:00.

Sunday: When the spirit moves us we can head out for at least another 3 hrs of kayaking before coming back to the house to pack, have lunch and head home. After lunch anyone who wants to stay for another couple of hrs of kayaking is more than welcome to as long I can get a ride home.

Costs: Aside from food and paper goods maybe $18 for getting the house cleaned and the laundry done.

Kayak Rentals: A couple of kayaks may be available for rent (look for the link for kayak rentals on our home page). Anyone who wants to rent needs to reserve it and pay for it in advance.

Bed Linens: The house has plenty of towels and bed linens, there is no need to bring your own and there are 2 full bathrooms for us to share.

Directions for getting up to the house and more plans for the dinner will be provided to the people who rsvp.

I'm disappointed that I can't go but my work has just escalated, from phone call notice this morning, and extends through this coming weekend. Have a good trip with each other and i hope the weather is good.

    Yours, barbara

As I mentioned to you David, I have celiac disease so must eat gluten free, avoiding cross contamination and I eat a plant based diet.
