Winter Pool Session Salem, MA (YMCA)

It's never too early to plan for colder weather. This year Salem Kayak will be holding pool sessions at the Salem YMCA, which has a great pool and great access. Each session goes from 3-5pm., with folks arriving at 2:30 pm and leaving at 5:30 pm (two hours on the water).

For those with their own equipment and just want to practice for 2 hours in the pool, the fee is $20.

ANY BOAT GOING INTO THE POOL MUST BE CLEAN AND FREE OF DEBRIS.

For those seeking professional instruction, the fee is $65, all equipment included.

You can register through this meetup site by RSVPing and I will confirm availability to complete the registration.

Fees will be refunded if requested 48 hours prior to the date of the session or if inclement weather forces a YMCA closure. Space is limited to 7 spots on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that these sessions are cross listed with other paddling groups and the 7 spots are the total available for all groups.

AS A CONDITION OF ATTENDING THIS MEETUP, YOU AGREE TO: Hold harmless, and indemnify the organizers and their relations and heirs, and all members and participants of the Meetup group from any and all claims for injury, illness, death, and/or property damage including those caused by negligence, ignorance, inexperience and other reasons. $20 for the pool session is a good deal and the people from Salem Kayak were there for some coaching as well. I spent a good 3 hrs working on my paddle float rescue skills and have a good understanding now of the steps involved. I know doing it in the pool is a lot easier then out in the cold water but between the lesson I took a couple of weeks ago and the practice yesterday I feel a lot more confident in using the paddle float to get me back in the boat.

A great time for sure. Spent most of the day practicing self rescues and built up a bit of confidence too. Thanx everybody.

My wife and I look forward to playing with 'ya in the pool. We will bring our recreational kayaks, they are a real challenge when swamped.
