Paddle Lancaster Reservoir/Bear Creek

Paddle across a 60 acre lake and up Bear Creek with a very pretty tree canopy. We have seen beaver, otter and a bald eagle there. About 3 miles round trip rated EASY. Good for beginners. Bring hat, sunscreen, snacks and beverages and whistle.

Meet at 10:00 a.m for a 10:30 put in. It should take about 2.5-3 hours. We can have lunch in Lancaster if you like.

This trip was rained out on August 17 so I hope we will have nice weather this time. The lake is only open on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Directions from Rock Hill/Charlotte area:  Take Rt 9 or Rt 521 to Lancaster. Go East on 9/521 bypass. Go under Rt 903 and after the road becomes two lane turn right on 521 business and go north one mile. Lake and parking lot are on the right.

Shortcut: After passing under Rt 903 the road becomes two lane. Turn right after the Fastenal Co. onto Twilight Rd. Turn left into the parking lot a few feet before the stop sign.

If you are coming up Rt 521 from the south go through Elgin and turn left onto 521 business after the Carolina Christian Academy sign. Go north one mile.

Enjoyed the day. It was a perfect spot for me to bring Adriana to. No major obstacles or dangers. Take how ever much time you want paddling out and back. She is 6 so a day paddle is just to long to be fun.

I was surprised at the turnout I had for this paddle - 12 boats and 15 people! It was a very friendly group and the weather was sunny which made for a great paddle.

I have not paddled the creek in a few weeks. Once we had a tree down and Jim sawed it into. If you have a saw it would be a good idea to bring it.

I drove by the lake this morning and it looks great. There is no forecast for rain tomorrow. Yvonne said she is bringing 3 friends so we now have 17 signed up to paddle. Quite a group and we should have a great time.

Be sure to bring a whistle. It is a state law.

Just moved south, never paddled in a group before. I like leisurely paddles with no pressure of "getting there" in a rush.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
