"For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." (Matthew 18:20)
Welcome to Catholic In Real Life, the place for 30s and 40s Roman Catholics living in Upper Westchester County (Peekskill, Cortlandt, Mohegan Lake, Shrub Oak, Yorktown) and Putnam County (Garrison, Putnam Valley, Mahopac), New York.
We've started this group to answer the need for a faith-based local community group because we haven’t found an established group that’s geared toward us. We (the 3 organizers) are parishioners of Holy Spirit in Cortlandt Manor, and as of December 2013, we are now an officially recognized group of the parish. Thanks to Fr. John DeBellis for his support of CiRL!
All 30s and 40s Catholics, (married, single, divorced, with kids or without) are welcome to join us on our journey to explore what it really means to live our beliefs every day and practice our faith beyond Sunday mass--in short, to become Catholic in Real Life!
Are you asleep in your faith?
Well, "Awake from your slumber! Arise from your sleep! A new day is dawning."
Can you relate? Are you, like us, looking to deepen your faith and grow as a Catholic in Real Life? Then this is the place for you! We only ask 2 things of members:
1) Engage: come to events, provide feedback on the events you attend, and send us suggestions.
2) Respond: give a yes or no RSVP to each and every event posted in our calendar – this helps us gauge interest in meet-ups.
Some of the ways we'll explore being Catholic in Real Life include:
• Social events such as dinners and parties • Seasonal & liturgical celebrations & activities • Quarterly meet & greets • Bible study • Service & volunteering • Trips / pilgrimages • Attending lectures • Learning about Church history and the other Catholic Churches • Both adult and family events
