I've been playing banjolele/ukulele since the last century. My love of the instrument has been shared along the US East coast and as far as Australia through instruction and performance. Some even refer to me as the Banjolelelady!
A small group of women, referred to as the "Ladies Who Uke" were taking lessons with Killian Mansfield in 2009. Killian passed away in August, 2009, following a 5-year cancer battle. After that, George Koury, a very talented ukulele player (and Tiny Tim's cousin) -- also a dear friend of Killian's -- graciously offered to guide the group. Currently, we meet the first Saturday of every month at the Phoenicia Library, which houses the Killian Mansfield Ukulele Collection. Donations can be made to the library to support the Catskill Ukulele Group meetings, maintaining the collection, and the elementary school and adult programming that the collection serves.
