I'll be coming back with some treats for our Sept. 5th meeting (fleeing Earl from the coast of North Carolina). The jam theme will be Rhythm & Blues. In the 3:00 session we'll review chord groupings in the key of A.
Take a look at and print out in advance (if you can):
Stand By Me Rhythm of the Rain These Loving Arms Baby Love Little Sister My Girl You Really Got a Hold of Me it's Gonna Take a Miracle Summertime
Also, Dave will lead us during the jam on the songs he uploaded to the site (those not listed above)--so print those out too.
Newbies: no worries, you'll leave able to play at least one song.
If you feel like bringing a friend, no need to RSVP because we have plenty of space at Ashokan Center in the Pewter Shop.
If you have an extra uke and are comfortable bringing as a loaner for the jam, please do.
A small group of women, referred to as the "Ladies Who Uke" were taking lessons with Killian Mansfield in 2009. Killian passed away in August, 2009, following a 5-year cancer battle. After that, George Koury, a very talented ukulele player (and Tiny Tim's cousin) -- also a dear friend of Killian's -- graciously offered to guide the group. Currently, we meet the first Saturday of every month at the Phoenicia Library, which houses the Killian Mansfield Ukulele Collection. Donations can be made to the library to support the Catskill Ukulele Group meetings, maintaining the collection, and the elementary school and adult programming that the collection serves.
