Bear Creek Lake State Park (map)
We will meet at the Virginia Beach Central library at 8 am to carpool to Bear Creek Lake State Park. We should reach the park about 10 am.
That's the morning view from the campsite-->
This is a very interesting state park that is surrounded by the Cumberland State Forest. There are several old homesteads, a swinging bridge, and several old graveyards to be found in the State Forest. There is lots to explore in this area! We'll spend the weekend seeing what we can find.
Each campsite in the park cost $16. The campsite is able to hold 2 tents only, so you are looking at about $8 per person.
*Dogs are welcomed but must remain on a leash, chained, or in a tent/vehicle at all times. There is a $5 per dog fee that will have to be paid to the state park to allow them to stay at the campsite overnight.*

The state park does have fire rings, running potable water, and indoor restrooms complete with showers . You would be responsible for all your own gear including warm clothes (and food)!
*If you do not have all the needed gear, please email me! I do have extra stuff that you are more than welcome to use!*
Go to the weather channel and type in the zip code 23040 to get a better idea of what the weather will be like.
Note: There is no cell phone signal in the park. (That is per the park. I was able to get a little spotty cell phone service. The do have a pay phone in the park, though).
